Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear children,

First of all, I would like to convey to you the greetings of my dear husband, President Alassane OUATTARA, who has asked me to greet you very warmly.

We are gathered today at the Groupe Scolaire régional de Treichville, for the launch of the Children Of Africa Foundation’s school kits for children in Côte d’Ivoire, for the 2019-2020 school year.

In our view, this activity is of particular importance because it is essential to promote access to education for all our children, a prerequisite for the equitable and sustainable development of our populations.

This is an opportunity to commend the efforts of the government, which, through its policy of education for all, has made schooling compulsory for all children aged 6 to 16 since 2015.

This decision, which has made it possible to achieve record enrolment rates in recent years, has also contributed to a significant increase in the enrolment of girls, and I would like to congratulate our sister, Minister Kandia CAMARA, for having successfully implemented this policy.

Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen,

The schooling of children is one of the three pillars on which the Children Of Africa Foundation’s work is based, alongside health and social issues.

Indeed, over the past 21 years , we have been distributing thousands of school kits to support parents in their efforts to get their children into school.

since its inception, the Foundation has distributed 120,000 school kits.

This initiative aims to encourage and facilitate the schooling of children, especially the most disadvantaged among them,

in order to offer everyone the same chances of success in life.

To this end, for the 2019-2020 school year, the Children Of Africa Foundation is offering 12,000 school kits to disadvantaged children throughout Côte d’Ivoire.

These kits consist of binders, reinforcement books and various school supplies.

Today, for this official launch ceremony, 5000 school kits will be distributed in the Abidjan District, including 2000 to the Treichville Regional School Group, which is hosting the ceremony.

In addition, there are the food and non-food donations that have just been listed and which are offered to the schools of the Groupe Scolaire Régional de Treichville for an amount of 28 million fcfa.

The total cost of distributing school kits this year is 165 million fcfa.

Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen,

At this point in my remarks, I would like to thank Mr Mohamed YASSINE, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SIPPI Investissement, which is a partner of the Children Of Africa Foundation, which supports us every year for this activity of the Foundation.

Thank you, Mr. Director General, for your support.

Thanks also to Mr. Abdoulaye NIANGADOU, General Manager of African Distribution Company and Doctor Yacouba COULIBALY, General Manager of AIGF for their appreciated contributions.

Dear parents of students,

We hope that these school kits will help relieve you of the costs associated with the start of the school year.

You are already making enormous sacrifices for the education of your children, and I congratulate you on that.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear teachers,

By entrusting their children to you, parents place in your hands the most precious thing they have in the world.

You have chosen to pass on the knowledge to them and make these children the leaders of tomorrow.

This means all the responsibility that you have and that gives your job its full importance.

This noble task that you carry out every day with self-sacrifice honours you and I congratulate you on it.

Ladies and gentlemen, I ask you to give them a big round of applause.

Now, I would like to end my remarks by addressing you, my dear children.

I count on you to work well at school and achieve the best results.

This way, you will make your parents proud.

As for me, I’m already proud of you.
